PIVOT leverages our data and programs to provide a “ground-game” for scientists and innovators looking to improve delivery and science in remote areas.
Dried Blood Spot Technology
We are partnering with scientists at Johns Hopkins, Virginia Tech, and Stanford to pilot the use of dried blood spot technology for diagnosing tuberculosis and other diseases, eliminating the need for cold-chain.
Bioengineer, 2016 MacArthur ‘Genius’ and PIVOT board member Manu Prakash is bringing ultra low-cost “paperfuge” to PIVOT and Madagascar. This tool made of paper, string, and glue costs only 20 cents to produce, can separate blood almost as effectively as expensive commercial devices, and could revolutionize diagnosis for anemia, HIV, and malaria in resource-poor settings.
