Co-Founders and Family Visit Ifanadiana with Donations to Local Schools
This April, PIVOT co-founders Jim and Robin Herrnstein visited Ifanadiana District with their five young children to see and experience the progress being made by PIVOT and local communities.
Their time in Ranomafana included presenting donations from the children’s classmates in the United States to children in two local schools. Jackets were presented to 255 students at the Morafena School, and over 500 sets of colored pencils were distributed to the students at Ranomafana Primary School. The effort was coordinated by Robin Herrnstein in collaboration with her children’s elementary school in Saint James, New York, where students decorated boxes of colored pencils with drawings, their names, and short messages such as “salama” (“hello” in Malagasy).
During their visit, Jim Herrnstein, also chairman of PIVOT’s board of directors, attended the inauguration of a number of newly constructed and renovated facilities across the district. The mayor of Kelilalina honored Jim’s leadership by presenting him with a key to the city of Kelilalina.
