17 Sep A New Collaboration To Fight COVID-19 In Madagascar
Since PIVOT’s beginning, we have shared a common goal with our local partners Center ValBio: to apply scientific expertise to improve human health conditions and protect fragile ecosystems in the region where we work.
COVID-19 has created a critical urgency to leverage this expertise in response to the ongoing epidemic.
With the knowledge that rapid, reliable testing is the foundation to response, PIVOT and CVB have launched a collaboration to establish a COVID-19 testing system within CVB’s existing molecular biology lab.
This will be the first physical testing center outside of Antananarivo, Madagascar’s capital city. Extending access to testing to the country’s more rural regions is vital; this effort will enable the Ministry of Public Health to adapt their strategy to address the presence of cases throughout the country.
We are proud to be partnering with CVB to support and enhance Madagascar’s COVID-19 response.
This new lab capacity will not only address the urgent needs of the population in the face of today’s pandemic, but will also serve as a long-term foundation for innovation in infectious disease diagnostics for humans and wildlife in the region in the future.
