Carrie Hall, Brigham and Women’s Hospital
Presenters: Tara Loyd, co-CEO, and Dr. Michael Rich, co-Founder
PIVOT’s mission, based on a fundamental belief in the worth of all people and a moral responsibility to address the needs of the destitute, is to create a model system of universal access to quality health care for Madagascar via comprehensive health system strengthening in a district near Ranomafana National Park, Madagascar.
PIVOT takes a highly rigorous approach, carefully measuring costs and impacts, engaging in relevant scientific research, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of its methods. In so doing PIVOT strives to further our understanding of how to effectively break cycles of poverty and disease.
Michael and Tara will present the first 18mo of operations on the ground in Ranamofana from finding the right places to begin the intervention, to building a staff and board, to engaging Ann Miller to complete an 1800-household baseline survey of the district for which initial analysis is being produced now and to setting up shop as a grant-giving organization as well. Please join us to learn about Madagascar and our efforts in Ifanadiana District as well as provide feedback and guidance for our work.
